I’ve visited St Sulpice seven times now, each time staying in Maggie and John’s beautiful house. It’s one of my favourite places in the world. The village itself is stunningly beautiful, and the simple accommodation in the house is lovely. The view from the balcony in the bedroom is heavenly – there’s nothing nicer than throwing open the shutters in the morning and seeing the valley below. I love swimming in the river every day, visiting the nearby villages (particularly when they have their markets) and enjoying the local food and wine. Maggie and John are wonderful hosts, always friendly and helpful, with advice about places to visit, walks in the area, and restaurants to try. If we’re feeling active there’s lots to do in the area – sightseeing; cycling; walking; kayaking down the river – but more often we just bask in the peace of St Sulpice and spend blissful hours reading on the windowseat, relaxing by the river, and enjoying the beauty of the valley. Over the years I’ve brought several friends to stay there, and each of them has fallen in love with the place just as I have. I hope to keep visiting for many years to come!

‘My parents own this property. Most of my holidays as a child were spent in the cottage and barn. It was idyllic and I still return for a week a year with my wife. As does my brother with his family. It is a wonderful area with great scenery, lots to do, wonderful people and incredible food. Enjoy it.’
