Explore on foot

The walks and hikes around Saint Sulpice and around the Célé valley are one of the great highlights of the are – often you won’t see another soul other than the occasional deer, lizard or bird.

There is a book in the cottage that will give you directions, distances and estimated times for the many local walks. Some of the walks follow part of the Grande Randonnée (GR 651 bis) along the Célé valley, at places beside the river, at others along the cliffs or through sparse meadow and woodland. The GR is part of a network of pilgim routes that cross France and is well-marked with red and white stripes. There are also more local walks marked in yellow, many of which have the advantage of being circular, and some of which start in the village.

The terrain is easy for regular hikers and manageable – though often hilly – for those who don’t walk regularly.

The walks vary between one and six hours.
